ST. PETER, Minn. – The Bethel women's hockey team suffered a series-opening loss to No. 1 ranked and defending national champions Gustavus Adolphus College Friday evening, 4-0. The Gusties handed the Royals their first conference loss moving them to 2-1-0 in MIAC play and 3-2-0 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• It didn't take long for the Gusties to burst onto the scoreboard, scoring just 54 seconds into the game. Eleven minutes later, they added a second goal on a power play which came after the Royals were whistled for to many skaters on the ice.
• The Gusties came out strong again in the second period, notching another goal at 2:40.
• GAC sealed the game at 4-0 as they scored with just one minute left in the third period.

Anna Hanson made a valiant showing in net, tallying 29 saves throughout the game, but the reigning national champions proved to be a tough match.

The Royals head home to their home ice in the Blaine Super Rink hosting the Gusties in the second game of the series tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 17, at 3 p.m.
