BLAINE, Minn. – Behind a pair of power play goals, the Bethel University women's hockey team took down the St. Olaf Oles in its first MIAC matchup of the season, 3-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Royals earned the lead near the end of the first period as
Lindsey Albers fought for a power play goal in a scuffle in front of the net, setting them ahead, 1-0.
• Bethany Velasco widened the lead less than two minutes into the high-scoring second period as she snuck the puck in around the backside of the net, earning her second goal of the season and pushing the Royals to a 2-0 advantage.
• The Oles landed two goals of their own at 2:20 and 5:11, evening the score.
• Just over two minutes later,
Lindsey Muntifering finally put the puck away on a rebound, earning a power play goal at the 7:26 mark of the second with BU up 3-2.
• The Royal defense fought until the end alongside goaltender
Anna Hanson–who made eight saves in the final period and tallied 28 saves – including a penalty kill early in the third.

The Royals hit the road tomorrow night, Saturday, Nov. 11, when they take on the Oles in the finale of the weekend series. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
