ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel women's soccer team suffered a decisive loss to the St. Catherine University Wildcats in its final game of the season, 5-0. The Royals finished with a record of 2-9 in the MIAC and 4-10-2 overall.
How It Happened:
• Though the shooting statistics throughout the game were nearly equal, the Royals with 17 and the Wildcats with 18, SCU largely controlled the field and constantly put pressure on the BU defense and goalkeeper
Izzy Smith, who made several critical saves throughout.
• The Royals held off the Wildcats until the 35th minute of play when they finally beat Smith, bringing the score to 1-0. Shortly after, SCU added a second goal in the first half in the 42nd minute, earning a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
• Though BU put up eight shots in the second half, only SCU was able to capitalize on its opportunities and managed to score in the 47th, 71st and 80th minute of play, sealing the final score at 5-0, Wildcats.
