ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's basketball team used a career-high scoring effort from
Avery Mast and strong free throw shooting to take down Augsburg, 77-65, at home Monday evening.
Mast picked up steam from the field early dropping 20 points while knocking down four threes. A 3-point play from Mast with 5:23 to go capped out his night and putting it much out of reach of the Auggies (6-24, 4-11 MIAC) with Bethel's largest lead of the night at 14.
From the line Bethel (8-12, 6-9 MIAC) finished 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from the charity stripe and when 42.1 percent (8-of-19) behind the arc. The Royals took care of the ball matching their fewest turnovers of the season at nine.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
• A trade off of buckets midway through had the teams dead even at 22 before both teams went on a two-minute scoring drought.

Zach Doely completed his 15-point first-half with a pair of free throws, where BU was 8-of-10 in the first, making it a five-point game.
• Bethel took a 40-32 lead into the break after
Tommy Jensen knocked down his second three of the game from the corner off a nick kickout pass from
Joey Kidder.
Second Half
• Mast scored the Royals' first nine points of the second half pushing the lead to double digits.
• The Auggies got it as close as nine once midway through the second half.
• A big block by Doely and a bucket on the other end though put it in double digits for good with under seven to go.
• Six of Bethel's final eight points came from the charity stripe with a pair of makes from
Solomon Whalen with 4:52 left,
Caden Boettcher with 2:35 to go and Kidder making one of two in the final two minutes.
KEY PERFORMERS
• Avery Mas added six rebounds and two assists to his double figure night where he shot 7-of-12

Zach Doely finished 11-of-15 from the floor with a game-high 25 points.
• Off the bench
Caden Boettcher did miss a single shot with a perfect 3-for-3 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line for 12 points.
