ST. PAUL, Minn. – With four starters in double figures, the Bethel University women's basketball team earned its fifth straight win defeating Macalester on the road Saturday afternoon, 65-49.

Bethel improved to 11-5 overall and 11-2 in the MIAC where they sit in first place.

The Royals shot 40 percent from the field while Macalester was held to 37 percent. Bethel held a 39-33 margin on the boards and turned the Scots' 25 turnovers into 25 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
• Bethel opened the game on an 8-0 run in the opening three minutes before going on a near three-minute scoring drought.
• Layups from
Emma Schultz and
Courtney Nuest gave the Royals a 15-9 lead after one.
• The Royals defense showed out holding Macalester without a bucket until the 4:43 mark while building a 28-11 advantage.
• BU took care of the ball with only four turnovers in the first 20 minutes while forcing Macalester into 14.
• Shooting 43.2 percent from the floor the Royals led 37-17 at the break.

Second Half
• Macalester shot 55.6 percent in the third while BU struggled at 31.3 percent.
• The Scots used an 8-0 run late pulling within 48-36 after three quarters.
• A three ball early in the fourth pulled the Scots within nine, but Bethel responded with a 6-0 run getting the lead back to double digits. Â

Kendal Cox led all scorers with 15 points and six rebounds.

Anna Garfield chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.
