Saturday football in Arden Hills is back as the No. 13 Bethel University football team opens its 2022 campaign inside Royal Stadium hosting Pacific Lutheran University in its annual Whiteout game. It marks the first time since 2019 the Royals open up at home dating back to a 42-10 win over Simpson. Kick off is set for 1 p.m.

KICKOFF COVERAGE
• No. 13 Bethel opens up to the 2022 season hosting Pacific Lutheran for just the second time in program history. It will be the first time since 2019 that Bethel has opened the season at home.
• The Royals have won their last three season openers, one which came at Royal Stadium when BU defeated Simpson 42-10 in 2019.
• An experienced squad, Bethel returns 20 of its starters this season. The offense comes at the direction of graduate student quarterback Jaran Roste who threw for 21 touchdowns last year and 2,631 yards. Defensively sophomore All-American safety Nate Farm returns in the back field following last season's team-leading 81 tackles and six interceptions.
• The Royals enter the season ranked No. 13 in the D3Football.com preseason poll. It marks 32 straight weeks in the top 25.
• Bethel is coming off an 8-3 season where it made its 10th NCAA Tournament appearance falling to No. 8th-ranked Central College in the opening round.
• Saturday's showdown can be viewed live on the Royal Sports Network where all home games stream for free. On the call for the 16th consecutive season are the familiar voices of John Holgrimson and Dave Thomas.

• Saturday's matchup will be the first regular season meeting all-time between the Royals and Lutes. The only meeting between the two foes came in the opening round of the 2000 NCAA Playoffs where the then defending national champions PLU defeated BU 41-13 at home.
