ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – A three goal first half paced the Bethel University women's soccer team to a 4-1 season opening victory over Northwestern Thursday afternoon at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bethel peppered the Eagles keeper early before ultimately outshooting UNW 21-15
• Junior
Kelsey Bergan broke the scoreless tie with an unassisted goal in the 4th minute. Her shot from atop of the 18-yard box hit the bottom of the cross bar before going in.
• Newcomers
Malia Beilby and
Kaia Kennedy worked their magic in the 26th minute. Kennedy had a nice cross for Beilby to tap in two yards out.
• In the 29th minute,
Bella Heckmann made it 3-0 with her first collegiate goal coming on a penalty kick opportunity.
