RESULTS
GENEVA, Ohio - Lukas Walton earned All-American honors in the decathlon as he took 8th place with a school record score of 6,654 points. This is the first All-American award for the senior Walton as he was 9th in the heptathlon in March, and 9th in the 4x400m relay last year. Walton improved his previous best of 6,394 points by a whopping 260 points and had lifetime bests in the 100m, long jump, 400m, 110m hurdles, javelin, and 1500m. Here is how his all of his events went:
- 100m - 11.33 (789 points)
- Long Jump - 6.52m / 21'4.75" (702 points)
- Shot Put - 10.88m / 35'8.25" (539 points)
- High Jump - 1.91m / 6'3.25" (644 points)
- 400m - 50.53 (780 points)
- 110m Hurdles - 15.17 (829 points)
- Discus - 25.76m / 84'6" (382 points)
- Pole Vault - 4.30 / 14'1.25" (702 points)
- Javelin - 38.86m / 127'6" (426 points)
- 1500m - 4:25.86 (772 points)
The Royals had two more athletes qualify for finals on Saturday. Kelsie Sealock ran the 2nd fastest time in the field with a season best 13.96 in the 100m hurdles. Freshman Jayson Ekiyor won his heat of the 110m hurdles in 14.40 to earn an automatic bid to Saturday's final.
Gabe Irons wrapped up his illustrious career at Bethel with a 13th place finish in the shot put. Irons best throw was 15.74m / 51'7.75". Irons finished his career with school records in 5 events and All-American honors in Thursday's discus competition.
