ST. PETER, Minn. – It was a historic day for the Bethel University softball team that saw its ace right-hander
Kayla Simacek become the program's all-time strikeout leader while simultaneously extending its winning streak to a program-best 14 games with a sweep of Gustavus Adolphus.
Simacek combined for 20 strikeouts between the two starts bringing her career total to 370. She gave up five combined runs, four that were earned, walking two and giving up 12 hits.

It didn't take long for the BU bats to get to work with

Simacek, with a strikeout already in the first, struck out the side in the second become the Royals all-time Ks leader officially passing Angela Vedders with 354 career Ks at the time.
Cortney Hokanson drove in Bethel's second run of the game with the bases loaded and sneaking it through the left side of the infield.
Bethel put up a three spot on the Gusties in the fourth to go up 5-1. Fauth in the inning stole two bases capping out the second time in three games where she snagged a single-game record four bags.
The Gusties would get one back in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run. A pair of backwards Ks and a fly out ended it in the seventh by Simacek gave BU its best winning streak in program history at 13.

The offense didn't go anywhere in game two as
Mikaela Girard kick started a five RBI game driving in BU's first run of the game.
The Royals took advantage of a few Gustie errors int eh second jumping out to a 4-0 lead.
Four of the first five hitters for BU reached in the fourth and all eventually scored moving it to 8-0 after four innings of play.
While Girard picked up a RBI double in the fifth making it 9-1, GAC got a pair back in the bottom half of the frame.
BU added two more insurance runs in the sixth before Simacek closed out the day with back-to-back strikeouts.
