ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel University women's tennis team improved to 9-7 on the year and 5-1 in MIAC play following a 6-3 victory at Macalester.
BU took a 2-1 lead into singles play after getting points from the undefeated duo of
Grace Riermann and
Sydney Rott who won 7- and
Elise Bierbaum and
Ingrid Goldstrand who took No. 3 doubles 8-1.
Riermann at No. 1 singles did not drop a game for the third straight match. The Royals secured a victory with production from the bottom half of its singles lineup who picked up straight set wins.
Emma Thole improved to 10-6 on the year with her sixth straight victory winning 6-2, 6-0.
Rylee Schurman rolled 6-1, 6-0 putting her back in the win column while
Ingrid Goldstrand took No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-1.
The Royals, who have four remaining matches, next head to St. Catherine on Thursday, April 21 at 4 p.m. SCU currently sits four in the MIAC standings just below Bethel at 4-1, but take on St. Olaf Friday.
