PELLA, Iowa – The Bethel University softball team kept its hot hitting ways going on a frigid day in its first true road series of the year taking a pair from Central College. Bethel picked up the shortened-game one victory 9-1 before taking the night cap 7-3.
Leadoff hitter
Allie Fauth led the charge at the plate going a combined 4-for-7 with four RBIs, two doubles and a triple.
Kayla Simacek picked up both wins in the circle improving to 10-1 on the year with two complete game efforts.
Game 1 | Bethel 9, Central (IA) 1 (5 innings)
Wind gusts reached up to 25 mile per hour as the host Dutch got an unearned run in the bottom of the first.
But after that it was all Bethel. The Royals added a six spot in the third sending 10 hitters to the plate where they produced six hits and took advantage of three Dutch errors.
Izzy Wilhelm,
Angela Dabu Cortney Hokanson and
Autumn Earney all picked up two-out RBI.
In the meantime, Simacek kept the hitters in check giving up three hits the rest of way and striking out seven.
BU added three runs in the fifth behind Wilhelm's RBI double before she crossed the plate on a successful double steal attempt. Fauth drove in her only run of the game with a double down the left field line.
Game 2 | Bethel 7, Central (IA) 3
In game two BU kept the offensive production going while errors on the defensive side of things allowed the Dutch to plate three runs.
A bases clearing triple by Fauth down the left field line put the Royals on top 3-0.
Central scored its only earned run of the game in the bottom half of the frame.
The Royals tacked on three more in the fifth with
Hailey Rismeyer swiped home in another successful double steal attempt.
Kayla Hokanson getting a two-out two-RBI double to center.
Central added two more in the fifth on two Dutch errors.
Lexi DeBace added BU's seventh run in an infield single in the sixth.
