MINNEAPOLIS – The Bethel University men's hockey team saw its 2021-22 season come to an end in the MIAC Semifinals falling to the No. 1 seed Augsburg Wednesday evening, 7-0.
The Royals concluded the 2022 season 15-11-1 overall and posted a winning percentage of .574, their best winning mark since 2007-08. In the record books as a team, Bethel tied the single-season records for shutouts matching the 2006-07 mark of three. Allowing 75 goals this season, that's the fewest by the Royals in a season since 2013-14.
The top-seeded Auggies broke the zero-zero deadlock 3:45 into the opening period.
While Bethel couldn't capitalize on its two power plays in the opening period, they also kept the Auggies from scoring while on their own man advantage.
Augsburg was able to slip one more past
Travis Allen as the Royals went into the first intermission trailing 2-0.
Penalty plagued second and third periods helped the Auggies add three in the second and two in the third.
