OWATONNA, Minn. - The Bethel University women's tennis team opened the MIAC portion of its schedule with a thrilling 5-4 victory over St. Olaf College Friday evening. It came down to the No. 5 singles match where freshman
Emma Thole came away with a 6-2, 6-3 straight set victory.
Bethel took a 2-1 lead into singles play after
Rylee Schurman and
Emma Thole battled to an 8-6 victory at No. 2 Doubles.
Grace Riermann and
Sydney Rott at No. 1 doubles secured BU's first point with an 8-1 victory.
No. 44th-ranked nationally singles player
Grace Riermann rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Rylee Schurman at No. 4 singles was BU's fourth team point winning 6-1, 6-2.
Tied at 4-4 in the team score department, Thole secured the victory at No. 5 singles.
The Royals are back in action Saturday, Feb. 26 taking on Concordia at Rogers Tennis Center with a 2 p.m. start time.
