ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Bethel Men's Basketball got their first conference win on Saturday afternoon. The Royals took down the Concordia Moorhead Cobbers 81-77 in a back and forth second half battle. BU improves to 2-5 (1-3).
With their first conference win in the books, the Royals had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures and seven players with at least 7 points. BU shot 53.6% from the field despite shooting only 27.6% from 3. The Royals dominated in the paint with a 42-20 point differential. Defensively, BU had 9 steals and forced the Cobbers to turn it over 16 times.
Tommy Jensen led the Royals with four treys including a massive one with 1:02 left in the game to move BU up 2, 79-77. Jensen went 4-9 from the floor and 3-3 at the line, ending with 15 points. Zach Doely ended with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Sam Nelson and Caden Boettcher had 13 and 10 points respectively. Payton Thomsen added 8 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists.
With 5 lead changes and 3 ties, the back and forth second half was ended by a defensive stop from the Royals and two Caden Boettcher free throws, sealing the game at the charity stripe with .8 seconds left.
