BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team earned a series split with Saint John's following a 2-1 victory Friday night at Bethel University Arena.
BU improved to 8-3-1 on the year and 3-2-1 in MIAC play collecting 11 conference points as they sit atop the standings tied with the Johnnies.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Justin Kelley lit up the lamp for the sixth time this year making it 1-0 Bethel at the 6:43 mark of the first.
• Bethel only needed eight seconds of its second man advantage of the second period to take a two-goal lead.
Tyler Braccini lit up the lamp for the Royals 6:20 into the period.

Spencer Kring had his first collegiate multi-point performance picking up assists on both goals.
• The Royals kept SJU off the board in the first two periods where
Austin Ryman, who was coming off back-to-back shutouts, had collected 21 saves. He finished the night with 35 stops.
• The Johnnies denied the Royals of a shutout scoring shorthanded with under four minutes to go.
• BU's penalty kill went 4-for-4 on the night.

The Royals are back on the ice for an outdoor non-conference showdown with St. Olaf on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the St. Louis Park Recreation Outdoor Center. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. Admission to the event will be free, but donations buckets will be located at the entrance to help cover the cost of the event.
