ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – It for sure wasn't easy, but in a game that featured 17 lead changes and 10 ties the Bethel University men's basketball team gutted out a 77-76 victory over Wisconsin-Superior.
Putting a tally in the win column for the first time this season, BU did so with three starters in double figures in a game that saw both teams shoot an even 50 percent. The Royals were dominant on the board holding a 38-24 edge and 11-4 advantage of the offensive end.
Avery Mast capped out a huge 17-point night that put BU up two with 2:49 to play. The Yellowjackets tied it on the next possession before
Tommy Jensen responded with the go-ahead three with 2:06 left.
The Yellowjackets would have the game's final field goal with 1:33 remaining. BU go the defensive stop they needed with 8.8 seconds left forcing UWS to take a fadeaway jumper from the elbow that missed hard off the glass.
Neither team held a lead larger than seven points, with BU gaining that margin at the 12:42 mark in the first thanks to an 11-0 run.
Mast's 17 points came on 7-of-15 shooting with three treys.
Zach Doely notched an 11-rebound, 17-point double-double.
Tommy Jensen's four three pointers and 6-of-10 shooting had him finish with 16 points.
