Royals Fall in 5 Sets

NORTHFIELD, MN - Royals volleyball traveled to Northfield to face St. Olaf College for the second time this season. Despite a career night from setter Hannah Wilhite, BU lost a heartbreaker in 5 sets with scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-9. This loss will keep Bethel in third place in the MIAC with a record of 12-7 (4-2).

How it Happened

  • Set one had 3 tie scores before BU broke into a slight lead with a 3-0 run

  • A 4-0 run by the Oles allowed them to take the lead and it forced Bethel to take a timeout

  • While Bethel battled back, the St. Olaf went on another 3-0 run to take the set

  • After 8 ties in the early second set, St. Olaf went on a 6-0 run to take the lead

  • BU's offense caught fire as they outscored the Oles 13-4 to take the second set

  • The Oles used both of their timeouts in the third set after only scoring three points to Bethel's ten

  • St. Olaf went on a 5-0 run to work their way back into the set and added a 6-1 run to take set three

  • The Oles opened the fourth set with a 4-0 run but BU had a 6-0 run of their own to take the lead

  • The score differential was never more than a couple points away until BU's 4-1 run gave them the edge in the fourth set

  • BU used both of their timeouts after St. Olaf opened the fifth set with a 6-0 run

  • Despite a small comeback from Bethel, St. Olaf's initial run was too much to overcome
