McWilliams and Top Line Produce 5-1 Victory over UW-River Falls

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team wrapped up non-conference play with a commanding 5-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, who received votes in this week's USCHO Top 15 Poll, Saturday evening.

Senior Jory McWilliams entered the game with two career goals, but came away with four by the end of the night completing his multi-goal performance in the first two periods.

Bethel saw big production from their top line of forwards of Sam Wilhite, Braeden Bartoo and Nick Ketola who combined for a goal and five assists.

An exciting opening period saw McWilliams start out his night putting Bethel on the board 7:20 into the contest. Jarrett Cammarata won a faceoff in the zone before Jake Herter got his own rebound dishing it to Cammarata.

A little over five minutes later the Falcons evened it up at 1-1 before Bartoo threaded the needle to the top shelf from the left faceoff circle at 16:39. Bartoo's shot was set up by a nice pass from Nick Ketola who was behind the net giving BU its only power play goal of the night.

McWilliams lit the lamp for the second time pushing BU's lead to 3-1 at the 11:32 mark in the second. Ben Doherty dished it off for his team-leading eighth assist while Luke Posner tallied the secondary assist.

Netminder Allen Travis continued to keep UWRF off the scoreboard collecting 17 of his career-high 35 saves in the second period.

The Royals took a 4-1 lead into the second intermission thanks to Adam Bricker tallying his third goal of the year.

Ben Brockway recorded his first collegiate goal on a heck of a shot from the left point after Bartoo played it around the board helping Brockway make it 5-1.

Picking up their ninth win of the season, the most since 2009-10, the Royals turn their attention to a big MIAC series next weekend with MIAC-leading Augsburg. Friday's contest will take place in Minneapolis before the series finale Saturday in Blaine. Puck drop is 7 p.m. both nights.
