LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Bethel University men's basketball team ran into a hot shooting Wisconsin-La Crosse squad dropping Saturday's non-conference matchup 95-60.
The No. 10th-ranked Eagles hit a season-best 13 threes against the Royals going 48.1 percent from behind the arc. Bethel shot 43.1 percent from the field while knocking down seven treys.
Jaren Tschetter and
Myles Coleman each led Bethel in scoring with nine points each. Tschetter chipped in a team-high four rebounds.
The Royals only lead of the night came at 2-0 as
Zach Doely scored on the Royals opening possession. UWL responded with a 3-pointer on the other end sparking a 16-0 run.
The Eagles couldn't miss knocking down seven threes in the opening half sending Bethel into the locker room trailing 57-27.
Bethel's offense got better in the second half where they went 13-of-25 from the floor. The Royals defense cooled down the Eagles keeping them just under 44 percent in the final 20 minutes compared to the 73 percent in the opening half.
A three-point play by Coleman with 5:51 remaining capped out an 8-0 run which was Bethel's best scoring run of the afternoon.
