ST. PAUL, Minn. – A career-high 22 points for senior forward
Jaren Tschetter returned the Bethel University men's basketball team to the win column with MIAC road victory at Hamline Wednesday evening, 75-63.
Tschetter finished the night with a game-high eight rebounds, three that came on the offensive end. Freshman
Myles Coleman chipped in 18 points, 10 of which came from a perfect night at the charity stripe, which hadn't been done by a Royal since 2006.
Tommy Jensen contributed with 16 points.
Knocking down 17 straight free throws in the second half held the Royals pull away from the Pipers. A free throw from Coleman at the 8:25 mark put BU ahead for good.
The Pipers pulled within five twice but hot 3-point shooting from Jensen and Tschetter quickly put to rest comeback efforts for Hamline. Jensen didn't miss from behind the arc in the second half where 11 of his points came.
Deadlocked at 29 heading into the break, BU outscored the Pipers 46-34 through the final two minutes on 48 percent shooting.
The Royals largest lead of the first half came at the 6:16 mark with Tschetter laying it up off the glass. Tschetter capped off a 12-point opening half beating the halftime horn with a put back in the lane.
The Royals concluded a three-game road stretch Saturday in St. Peter against Gustavus Adolphus at 3 p.m.
