SARTELL, Minn. – Entering the second round of the CSB Invite, the No. 17-ranked Bethel University women's golf team sat in fourth place, of the 12-team field, where they were six strokes off the lead (323, +35). That proved to be no challenge for the Royals to overcome in their first tournament of the 2021 season. BU went on to shave off nine strokes carding a 314 (+26) and winning the CSB Invite with a 637 total score.
Bethel edged out No. 24 Carleton and No. 8 St. Catherine by a stroke after both teams entered the day tied for the lead.
Junior
Anna Tollefson had a career day shooting a career-best 71 (-1), also the second lowest round in program history, while carding four birdies. Tollefson propelled herself to the top off the leaderboard earning her second career individual champion finish shooting a 150 (+6), which is a 36-hole career best. She sat in a tie for eighth after shooting a 79 (+7) in the opening round. Her six birdies for the weekend led all individuals while she tapped in 19 pars.
Senior
Ana Schwarz earned a fifth-place finish after recovering from a triple bogey on the opening hole. Carding three birdies through the final 12 holes she finished the day with a 78 (+6), which is identical to her first-round score. She tapped in the second most pars with 21 and played the par 3s at one-under.
The Royals carded 13 birdies and led the field with 88 pars. BU also led the field in par 3 scoring with a +10 and par 5 with an identical stroke mark.
