Box Score 2 ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel University volleyball team kicked off a four-match weekend at the Kathryne Pals Legacy Invitational with a three-set victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 25-23, 25-17, 25-22 before falling to the hosts and No. 20-ranked Northwestern in five sets 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 22-25, 15-11.

BU knew its hands were full in the night cap dropping a close opening set to the Eagles 25-23 before falling down two sets dropping the next one 25-18.

The Royals kept their hopes alive taking the third set behind a strong presence at the net on the offensive end. Sophomore outside hitter
Danielle Friedges recorded six of her 11 kills while BU hit .222. Bethel got the lead to 14-6 before the Eagles attempted a comeback. UNW pulled within three on a handful of occasions but were shut down by the Royals.

A four-point run for BU in the fourth set tied things up at 11.
Kirstin Cotter picked up five of her team-high 12 kills in the set while the Royals hit an evening best .256. Following the 11-11 tie, neither team led by more than two points until
Emily Rossing put one down forcing a fifth set.

UNW jumped out to a 4-0 lead taking advantage of a few BU attacking errors. A trade off of points was not enough to complete Bethel's comeback only getting as close as two points to the opposition.

Bethel jumps back into action Saturday morning at Northwestern when they take on Wisconsin Lutheran at 11 a.m. and Pacific at 1 p.m.
