Women’s Soccer Blanked by Whitworth

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's team was kept off the board for the second straight match falling to Whitworth, 2-0, Saturday at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.

On the stat sheet, Bethel (2-2) was narrowly outshot by 13-12 but led the shots on goal battle 7-6.

A scoreless tie at the break put Bethel in a good spot despite being outshot 10-5 in the first 45 minutes. On the defensive side of things, the Royals held strong as the Pirates saw eight of their 10 corner kick opportunities come in the first half.

The Pirates broke the scoreless tie in the 60th minute before adding another just under two minutes later.

BU had its chances to tie outshooting the Pirates 7-1 in the final 28 minutes. But tip of the cap to the Whitworth goalkeeper who made three saves during that time period.

The Royals get a taste of their first MIAC competition of the year hosting St. Olaf Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.
