WINONA, Minn. – With a three stolen bases in the opener,
Allie Fauth became Bethel University softball's single-season leader with 24. She now also becomes the all-time career leader in bases stolen with 54.
Kayla Simacek made more history in the opener besting her 15-strikeout performance four days ago with a single-game record 18 strikeouts in the 6-0 victory.
A strong pitching performance from
Rylie Perkins backed by more offense gave BU its sixth straight win and the sweep, 10-1.
Game 1: Bethel 6, Saint Mary's 0
Defensively, Simacek was on her game striking out 18 of the 23 batters faced. In the complete game effort, she gave up two hits while walking none.
Bethel's top two hitters in the lineup,
Allie Fauth and
Lexi DeBace went a combined 5-for-9 while driving in five runs.
Fauth began her two RBI game bringing in Bethel's first run of the game with a single through the left side in the second. DeBace brought in the Royals next three runs giving them a 4-0 lead.
Two runs in the seventh were just a bonus for the BU offense who scored its six runs on 10 hits and two Saint Mary's errors.
Game 2: Bethel 10, Saint Mary's 1
The bats stayed hot in game two where the Royals were led by
Jamie Axelberg who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Her two-run homer in the third gave Bethel a 3-0 lead.
A crooked number in the third along with a three run fifth gave Bethel a 6-0 lead. In the sixth,
Kylie Bergman's pinch-hit RIB single through the right side capped off a four-run inning for the 10-0 advantage.
In the circle,
Rylie Perkins was lights out holding the Cardinals off the board until the sixth. She only gave up two hits through the first five frames before giving up a pair in the sixth. Along the way she struck out five improving to 3-0 on the year.

The Royals, who improved to 21-7 on the year and 14-4 in MIAC play, travel to Macalester on Thursday for one of their two remaining MIAC doubleheaders. First pitch is at 4:30 p.m. and per Macalester's spectator policy no visiting spectators will be allowed.
