ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Sophomore right-hander
Kayla Simacek continues to put her name in the Bethel University softball record books. With a 13-strikeout performance in game one of the sweep of Hamline, Simacek became Bethel's single-season record holder with 143 strikeouts.
She surpasses Karli Persson who recorded 140 back in 2013.
Bethel's bats stayed hot in game two using a five-run first to lead them to a 7-1 victory.
Game 1: Bethel 9, Hamline 0 // 5 innings
Tossing her second perfect game of the year, Simacek struck out 13 of the 15 batters faced.
Jamie Axelberg started her four RBI game with a sacrifice fly in the first. BU's bats stayed hot with a four-runs second kicked off by
Allie Fauth's two RBI double off the right field fence.
Axelberg roped a sharp single up the middle bring in a pair before scoring on a double by
Angela Dabu.
Katie Stewart capped off the fourth with a sacrifice fly driving in Bethel's ninth run.
Simacek closed out perfection striking out the side.
Game 2: Bethel 7, Hamline 1
Five runs in their first plate appearance got the Royals off to a strong start.
Sadie Hanzalik sent a two-run blast over the center field wall before
Cortney Hokanson's double to left closed out the scoring.
Axelberg completed a six-RBI driving in DeBace in the second before
Kayla Hokanson doubled to left scoring Axelberg.
After giving up a run in the first,
Rylie Perkins settled down in the circle retiring the next 10 she faced. It wasn't until the sixth that she gave up another hit until working out of a jam with a strikeout. Perkins picked up the win strikiong out four in six innings of work and walking three.
Out of the pen,
Savannah Romero tossed a scoreless seventh while striking out one.

At the moment, Bethel is scheduled to travel to Winona tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon where they will take on Saint Mary's. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
