MINNEAPOLIS – The Bethel University men's soccer team used a two-goal first half along with strong goaltending from
Juan Valdivia Cortes Wednesday evening defeating Augsburg, 2-1.
The Royals executed on set pieces as
Isaac Howell headed in
Ben Richburg's corner kick in the 11th minute. Bethel expanded on its lead with
Josiah Colman scored his second goal of the season off a throw-in from
Zach Caouette.
Valdivia Cortes made his presence known in the second half where he made five of his seven saves. Despite a goal from Augsburg that developed out of the midfield, BU's back line held strong as the Auggies had a pair of shots go wide in the final minute.
BU continues its abbreviated spring season Sunday at Gustavus Adolphus.
