ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel University men's basketball team closed out its abbreviated 2021 season with an 84-66 loss at St. Thomas Saturday afternoon.
Jaren Tschetter poured in a team-high 16 points while
Isaiah Carver-Bagley chipped in 13.
Chandler Wellman led the way with seven boards, three of which came on the offensive end.
Bethel led for the opening 2:56 before the Tommies used a 10-0 run taking the lead for the remainder of the contest. A 3-pointer from
Noah Whalen at the 7:48 mark pulled the Royals within four, but they would not get any closer than that.
The Tommies used a 53.3 percent first half shooting performance to hold a 40-30 advantage at the break.
In the second half, Bethel picked things up shooting 50 percent from the field. BU got within 10 on a handful of occasions but never brought the deficit to single digits. In his final game as a Royal, Carver-Bagley caught fire from behind the arc hitting three of BU's seven threes.
The Royals finish the year 3-5 overall and 3-3 in the MIAC.
