MINNEAPOLIS – Freshman
Luke Carlson had a heck of a collegiate debut going 4-for-7 at the dish with a double and a home run while driving in five. Carlson and the Royals picked up a sweep of Augsburg Sunday evening inside U.S. Bank Stadium improving to 8-3 on the year and 2-0 in MIAC play.
Bethel took the seven-inning MIAC opener 7-4 thanks to a five-run second before
Marcus Krupke squeezed in the game-winning run in the top of the ninth in a 4-3 game two victory.
Game 1: Bethel 7, Augsburg 4
In his first collegiate at bat, Carlson sent a 1-0 pitch over the wall for a three-run home run.
Nick Kulseth then tripled before
Caleb Brandt traded places with him before scoring on a sacrifice fly.
Augsburg got one back in the home half of the second before
Jordan Krupke's RBI single through the left side in the third sent the BU advantage back to five.
The Auggies plated a crooked number in the third and a one in the sixth making it 6-4 heading into the seventh.

Thomas Friesen on a double down the left field line.
Starter
Marcus Krupke stayed perfect on the year (3-0) picking up the win going 5.2 innings striking out four along the way.
Blake Williams picked up his first save of th year throwing a scoreless 1.1 innings where he only allowed one hit.
Game 2: Bethel 4, Augsburg 3
The first three innings started as a pitcher's duel with a combined two hits between the two MIAC foes.
Augsburg scored first producing a run on a sacrifice fly. But Bethel responded right back with a pair of runs in the fifth off a Carlson RBI double and a Kulseth sacrifice fly.
Nick Wibben led off the seventh with a triple scoring on the next at bat where Carlson sent a ball deep enough to center allowing Wibben to cross home.
The Auggies got two runs evening it up at 3-3 on reliver
Peyton Gallagher. Gallagher entered the game in the fifth coming in for starter
Matthew Bohlke who went 5.2 innings. Bohlke struck out a career-high seven while only giving up one run on three hits.
In the ninth,
James Woelfel ended up at third, following his leadoff single, after a sacrifice bunt from Wibben and Carlson's single through the left side. Bethel executed the short game perfectly as Krupke laid down a squeeze bunt allowing Woelfel to score.
Williams picked up his second save of the day getting the final three outs including a game-ending strikeout which stranded an Augsburg runner in scoring position.
