MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - The Bethel University women's hockey team returned to the ice Saturday night for the first time in 18 days looking to continue their winning ways but the Royals two late goals were not enough in a 4-2 loss at the University of St. Thomas. The Tommies scored the games first four goals, one each in the first and second periods and twice early in the third before Bethel scored their two goals in the last six minutes. Bethel had started the season 2-0 with a win over defending MIAC champion Gustavus the last time out but the Tommies were able to improve themselves to 3-1 and 2-0 in the MIAC.
Scoring the Royals goals were
Grace Halvorson and
Julia McAlpin. Halvorson's score came at the 14 minute mark in the third with
Bri Stafne and
Lindsey Muntifering assisting.
Lexi DeBace assisted McAlpin on her score with just 3:02 remaining in the game. UST held a 29-23 shots on goal advantage in the game.
Baleigh Shuck took the loss in net, making 25 saves.
The Royals next action is scheduled to take place on Wednesday when they travel to St. Cloud to take on the Bennies of Saint Ben's at 7 p.m.
