MINNEAPOLIS – The Bethel University men's soccer team came into Friday's match needing a win to at least have hope at reaching the MIAC Playoffs. Giving up a goal 1:49 into the contest, Bethel responded in the best way possible firing off chance after chance. Bethel stayed in the battle continuing to break down the Augsburg back line before
Keegan Mellema found the equalizer in the 86th minute.
The Royals gave themselves life and took two shots in the first overtime period but to no success. With five shots for the Auggies in the second overtime, BU held strong and almost capitalized on its only chance at a shot.
Bethel had one last counter attack in them as the scoreboard counted down from 30 seconds
Mathieu LaFrombois had a wide-open look just inside of 18 yards after a nice centering pass from the left side. LaFrombois sent a rocket of a shot that sailed over the crossbar as the horn sounded ending Bethel's season.
