Ezekiel Lelinga wrapped up a historic individual season at the NCAA Division III National Championship meet. Lelinga became Bethel's third student-athlete in eight years to qualify for the national meet following a 13th place finish at the Central Region meet.
Conditions were tough in Louisville with rain and cold temperatures. Lelinga got out quickly over the first 1000m while his average pace over the 8k (4.96 miles) was still under 5:20 per mile. Running with a strong field, Lelinga dropped back in the pack finishing 245th with a time of 26.29.
An appearance in the national meet added to a heck of a season. Ezekiel had five top-10 finishes, two of which were top-five. He ranks fifth on the all-time performance list placing seventh at the Jim Drews Invitational in La Crosse, Wis. in a time of 25:10.1.
