Ketola, Posner Lead Royals Past St. Olaf, 5-1

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team picked up six points from its top line in Friday night's 5-1 win over St. Olaf inside Bethel University Arena. Sophomore Nick Ketola logged two goals and an assist, freshman Luke Posner added two points (one goal, one assist) and sophomore Curtis Hansen tallied an assist.

The Royals picked up three points in the MIAC standings while pushing its record to 6-13-3 overall and 5-5-3 in MIAC play. Bethel and St. Olaf wrap up the series tomorrow night in Northfield with a 7 p.m. puck drop.

Bethel led 2-0 after the opening period where Ketola and Posner each lit up the lamp. Oddly enough each picked up their assists aiding each other's goals.

St. Olaf sliced the Bethel lead in half getting one past netminder Joe Sheppard (3-3-1) 16 shots later. That would be the only mistake Sheppard made all night finishing with 26 saves and quite the highlight real.

It wasn't long into the third period before Zeke Zeier (Jacob Papesh, Michael Piehler) pushed BU's lead back to two. Dylan Giorgio scored his third of the season while Jarrett Cammaratta picked up his team-leading 14th point tallying the primary assist. Ketola's empty net goal with two seconds remaining more than slammed the door shut.

The Royals penalty kill went 3-for-3 while Sheppard stopped all seven shots the Oles took while on the man advantage.
