Balanced Scoring Attack Pushes Bethel to Road Victory at Augsburg, 83-66

MINNEAPOLIS – Five different players reached double digit scoring figures as the Bethel University men's basketball team picked up an 83-66 road victory at Augsburg Wednesday evening.

Outscoring the Auggies 48-29 in the second half, the Royals exploded shooting 53.8 percent (14-of-26) in the second half while going 5-of-10 from long distance. The win moves Bethel into a third place tie with Augsburg in conference play at 13-6 while going to 16-8 overall.

Junior forward Chandler Wellman was ready from the start coming up one point shy of his career-high with 20. Jack Jenson went off for 15 and seven boards while Hudson Urbanus and Granger Kingland each added 14 points. In his return back to the court from injury, Kingland reeled in a game-high nine boards.

The Royals trailed by five with 11:24 left to go as Isaiah Carver-Bagley knocked down his second trey of the evening giving BU the lead for the remainder of the contest. Augsburg got back within two thanks to Booker Coplin, who finished with a game-high 30 points.

A 12-0 run over a three minute stretch pushed BU's lead to 74-60 with 3:01 remaining. Caver-Bagley slammed one down with authority in the closing minute before the Royals finished it at the charity stripe where they were 20-for-25 (80 percent) in the contest.

BU jumped out to a 13-2 start before the Auggies came storming back tying it up on two occasions. It was tight in the final three minutes of the first half where Augsburg took a two point lead into the break.
