SUPERIOR, Wis. –  The Bethel University volleyball team extended its current winning streak to seven matches Saturday evening with wins over Martin Luther College and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Now 12-5 on the year, Bethel jumps back into MIAC play traveling to Carleton on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match.
Junior
Allie Fauth led the charge at the net with a combined 21 kills highlighted by a career-high 14 kills in the match against UW-Superior. Sophomore
Hannah Wilhite tallied 72 assists and 17 kills. Senior defensive specialist Dominque Dabu recorded 46 digs.
Bethel 3, Martin Luther 0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-15)
16 different Royals saw action in the opener Saturday which saw BU win in convincing fashion. The Royals never trailed against Martin Luther where they hit a season-best .340 for the match knocking down 40 kills.
The Royals scored 17 of its 25 points in the opening set on successful attacking attempts. BU opened up the second on a 7-2 run and never looked back. Dabu picked up all three of her service aces in the match during the second set. BU was business as usual in the third with a strong presence at the net.
Bethel 3, UW-Superior 1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-22)
A career-best performance by Fauth was aided with 14 kills from junior
Macie Gavic. Freshman
Kelsie Sealock hit .244 for the match recording a career- and match-high 15 kills.
The host Yellowjackets narrowly outhit the Royals .327 to .311 taking the opening set that saw six ties and six lead changes. BU jumped out to a 11-4 lead in the second set. The Royals never let UW-Superior within less than five before pair of kills by Fauth and a set winning kill by Sealock tied up the match.
Bethel came right at UW-Superior in the third hitting .333 with 18 kills. The teams traded off points to start until Bethel gained the lead from a Wilhite kill and kept it from there. The lead grew to as many as nine putting it out of reach.
In the fourth, the Yellowjackets recovered from a slow start until Bethel found its rhythm at net. The Royals held match point at 24-17 before UWS strung off five straight. There was no panic from BU as Wilhite set up Sealock for the game winner.
