ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bethel University women's tennis team is set to make the program's first-ever appearance in the MIAC Playoff Championship match on Sunday, May 5 against top-seeded and No. 27-ranked Carleton College.
The third-seeded Royals opened the tourney with a 5-0 win over St. Olaf on Wednesday at Ona Orth Athletic Complex before upsetting second-seeded and 32nd-ranked Gustavus to advance to the championship. Making their fifth playoff appearance the Royals hold a 4-4 all-time record in the MIAC Playoffs.
The match is tentatively scheduled for 1 p.m. at Carleton tomorrow. With the threat of inclement weather in the forecast, a backup plan is in place where the match could be moved to Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville, Minn. at 3:30 p.m. A final decision on the start time and location of tomorrow's match will be made at 10 a.m. Sunday morning.Â
