ST. PETER, Minn. – The No. 38th-ranked Bethel University women's tennis team fell on the road Saturday afternoon at No. 32nd-ranked Gustavus Adolphus, 6-3.
The Royals move to 17-4 on the year and 7-2 in MIAC play. With a St. Thomas loss to Carleton today, the Royals have earned the No. 3 seed in the MIAC Playoffs where they host No. 6 St. Olaf in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, May 1 at 3:30 p.m. BU closes out the regular season tomorrow at Ona Orth Athletic Complex against Hamline University at noon.
Mackenzie Novak and
Jill Weinzettel won the lone doubles match for the Royals, 8-3.
Gustavus took the top two singles matches while Novak battled to a two-set thriller 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
The Gusties captured the match winning the No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches in straight sets.
Meghan Schuler at No. 6 singles scored the Royals third team point with a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
