No. 10 St. Thomas Takes Series Opener 5-0 Over Bethel

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team fell at home to the No. 10-ranked University of St. Thomas Friday night by a 5-0 score. The Tommies scored twice in the first period and three more times in the second period to take the MIAC series opener.

The Tommies scored within the first minute of the game and then added a power play goal late in the first, taking advantage of one of their three first period power plays. UST scored their three second period goals in a span of just over four minutes in the middle of the period. The last Tommie goal came shorthanded on a steal and breakaway during the Royals lone power play of the game. UST outshot Bethel 33-15.

Bethel falls to 3-3 on the season with all three losses coming by shutout. The Royals stand at 2-1 in the MIAC. St. Thomas improves to 4-1-2 and 3-0.

The Royals will look to reverse their fortunes Saturday afternoon at the St. Thomas Ice Arena in Mendota Heights with a 2 p.m. puck drop.
