MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team put up a valiant effort against the No.10-ranked University of St. Thomas but a UST third period goal was the difference in a 2-1 win for St. Thomas. The Tommies scored the first and last goals of the game, sandwiched around
Bailey Thompson's score for Bethel. UST held a 23-16 shots advantage and for the second straight game Bethel had just one power play opportunity while St. Thomas had four.
UST scored the games first goal just under six minutes into the second period. Bethel's score came at 16:45 when
Bailey Thompson found the back of the net to tie the game up.
Courtney Johnston and
Bri Stafne assisted on Thompson's goal. The Tommies game winner came just over five minutes into the third period. Freshman
Baleigh Shuck made 21 saves in net for Bethel in taking the hard luck loss.
Bethel's MIAC record is now an even 2-2 and 3-4 overall while St. Thomas improved to 4-0 in the MIAC and 5-1-2 overall. The Royals will take the week off around Thanksgiving and then return to action with another MIAC series against a Top 10 team in No.9-ranked Hamline University. The Royals and Pipers will faceoff on Friday, December 6
th in Bethel University Arena and Saturday afternoon at the TRIA Rink in St. Paul.
