ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team closed out the 2019-20 season with a 3-0 loss to a very talented Wisconsin-Superior team Saturday afternoon at Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
The Royals finish the year 6-11-1 with a two win improvement from last season.
Wisconsin-Superior (14-3-2) scored its first goal in the 14th minute as a shot from outside the box and on a tough angle bent its way into the upper 90. Despite only taking one shot in the first Bethel was still in reach.
Out of the break, UWS had pushed it to the corner where a Yellowjacket had it just in front of the corner flag. With a little bit of bend on it and a tad bit of help from the wind, what was supposed to be a cross bent into the upper 90 on the far side making it 2-0.
In a physical match that saw a combined 25 fouls, the Royals and Yellowjackets rang even in shots during second half at 8-8.
The Royals had some good looks down the stretch but were to no avail as UWS scored again in the 83rd minute.
