ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel University volleyball team picked up its 10th straight win Thursday evening matching the program's longest win streak since 2011. The Royals did so in convincing fashion in a three set victory (25-8, 25-15, 25-19) at Macalester. BU improves to 15-5 on the year and 4-1 in MIAC play while heading to St. Thomas next Wednesday for a MIAC contest at 7 p.m.
Of the 16 Royals to see action,
Allie Fauth led the way with nine kills while
Emily Rossing was right behind her with five. The assists were distributed evenly with
Hannah Wilhite collecting 16 and
Ellie Hoyt with 10. BU out hit the Scots .202 to -.064 for the match and held strong with the serve recording eight service aces.
The Royals went down 2-0 in the first set before a kill by
Maria Claflin turned the waters leading BU on a 4-0 run. Bethel led 11-6 before the Royals scored 14 of the final 15 points in the set taking it 25-8. Never trailing in the second set, Bethel opened on a 7-2 run.
Rylee Forshee, Dominque Dabu and
Nikki Peitz all picked up service aces in the Royals 25-15 second set victory.
Forcing three straight attacking errors to begin the third Bethel found its own rhythm at the net with kills by Rossing and
Kirstin Cotter opening up the lead to 10-2. The two teams traded off points before Macalester went on a bit of a run pulling within five. The Scots challenged BU down the stretch but the Royals hung tough as
Allie Fauth put down the match winning kill.
