Royals Net Season-High in 100-52 Win Against Carleton

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Bethel University women's basketball never trailed in Wednesday's contest en route to hitting the century mark in the win against Carleton inside the Robertson Center, 100-52.

14 of the 15 Royals to see action found the scoring column as the Royals improve to 13-5 overall and 7-4 in league play. Bethel closes out the three-game homestand Saturday hosting Maclaester. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.

Hannah Johnson led all scorers with 21 points while Taite Anderson scored 16 points to put her 10 shy of the 1,000 career-point mark. Sophomore forward Elizabeth Schwarz recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive end. Makenna Pearson also chipped in an efficient 13 points in 18 minutes of action.

The Royals went on a 13-4 run from the opening tap to the 5:23 mark. Bethel's early pressure forced eight first quarter turnovers to help the Royals work in transition. Back-to-back fast break layups by Taite Anderson and Schwarz helped Bethel to a 27-15 lead after 10 minutes of play.

Bethel kept the full court press on to force Carleton to 10 second quarter turnovers. After going 0-for-6 in the first, the 3-point shooting picked up as the Royals went 3-for-4 from behind the arc. BU recorded its largest lead of the half at the charity stripe as Taite Anderson knocked down a pair of free throws sending the Royals into the intermission with a 52-25 lead.

Hot shooting continued for the Royals in the second half where they went 17-of-29 (58.6 percent) from the field. The lead continued to grow through a balanced attack as they outscored the opposition 27-14 in the third.

It was the Bethel bench once again to do work in the final quarter of play. All 21 points came from the Bethel bench including Mackenzie Novak's deep 3-pointer from the left wing to help the Royals hit the century mark.
