ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – For the second straight game the Bethel University women's basketball team hit the century mark inside the Robertson Center. The offensive production led the Royals to a 104-59 victory against Macalester Saturday afternoon in Arden Hills.
Bethel scored a program single-game record by a narrow margin of three points. The Royals 101-53 win against Bethany Lutheran on November 20, 2013 previously held the top spot. BU will take its 14-5 overall record and 8-4 league mark on the road Wednesday as they travel to the College of Saint Benedict. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
Junior forward
Taite Anderson came in needing 10 points to hit the 1,000 career point mark and she reached that feat easily with a game-high 26 points. Â
Makenna Pearson dropped 16 points while
Hannah Johnson recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Tessah Anderson led the bench scoring with 11.
The Royals wasted no time showing its defensive pressure as they jumped out to an early 19-3 lead through the first six minutes of play. Macalester could only hit three of its 15 attempts from the field as Bethel took a 27-9 lead after 10 minutes of play. The hot shooting continued in the second quarter where the Royals went 12-of-19 (63.2 percent) from the field. With 8:48 remaining

Taite Anderson on the fast break as Anderson laid in her 1,000 career point before sinking the free throw to complete the 3-point play. BU closed out the quarter with 20 points in the paint to take a 54-26 lead into the intermission.
Full court pressure by the Royals forced 28 turnovers, nine of which came in the third period. BU took full advantage in transition to convert the forced turnovers into 35 points. The Royals outscored the Scots 26-17 in the third where they picked up on long range shooting.Â
The Royals bench did their thing in the fourth scoring 19 of the 24 points. Off the bench it was
Mackenzie Novak to once again provide the fireworks. The Eagan, Minn. native knocked down a 3-pointer from the left side on the Royals final possession to record the team's single-game record in points scored.
