Bethel Routs Martin Luther, 7-1

NEW ULM, Minn. - The Bethel University women's soccer team and their high powered offensive attack made the trip to Martin Luther College on Monday evening and the Royals unloaded 70 shots, 35 on goal, in a 7-1 victory over the Knights. Maggie Sipe led Bethel with three goals while Sarah Gielau, Lauren Davis, Maria Retting and Sophie Kendall scored the other four goals for the Royals. Becca Brubaker totaled two assists while Davis, Tessah Anderson, Rachel Waterman, Retting and Kenzie Boozikee all had one assist.

The Royals actually found themselves down 1-0 in the 14th minute when MLC scored the games first goal. It would be the only shot of the night howver for the Knights. In the 19th minute Sipe scored her first goal, then just over four minutes later scored her second and the Royals never looked back. Bethel fired off 36 shots in the first half and 34 more in the second. MLC's goalkeeper made 28 saves in the contest.

Bethel will return home for a Wednesday MIAC matchup with Saint Mary's University at 4 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
