ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team survived the heat and humidity Saturday afternoon to take care of the Storm from Crown College by a 4-1 score. The Royals (3-4) scored three unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from the Storm (0-6).
Bethel opened the scoring with a
Carson Thomas goal in the 18
th minute. Crown was able to tie the game up by putting a corner kick directly into the net just four minutes later. After a five minute heat break play resumed but neither team scored again the rest of the period. In the second half Bethel scored their first goal on a great header by
Brendan Reich off an assist from
Andrew Zwart in the 58
th minute. Ten minutes later
Gavin Matson scored to put the Royals up 3-1. The final Bethel goal came in the 74
th minute and was scored by
Cobi Heckmann off an assist by
Connor Nelson.
Bethel outshot Crown 14-5 for the game while holding a 10-3 advantage on corner kicks.
The Royals next contest will come on Tuesday night when they travel to Minneapolis for a night game with the Augsburg University Auggies at 7:30 p.m.
