RESULTS - Drake Relays / Gustavus
DES MOINES, Iowa - The women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Hannah Sankey, Delia Labatt, Erin Alpers, and AddieKay Johnson smashed the school record by racing to a 3:49.99 at the 2018 Drake Relays. "I'm really proud of the way these ladies stepped up in a big-time race and delivered a great performance," says Head Coach Andrew Rock. "They stayed composed, which led to competing well against some excellent teams." That time put the Royals in sixth place at Drake, and ranks as the fourth fastest time in NCAA Division III this outdoor season. Annika Halverson also qualified for the prestigious meet in the 1500m. After a conservative first 1000m by the field, the event turned into a kickers race in which Halverson placed 13th (4:40.20).
The majority of the Bethel Royals track and field team competed at Gustavus on Saturday. Corin McKinstrey led the way for the ladies by winning the 100m hurdles (15.76), and running a personal best of 1:06.07 to place 4th in the 400m hurdles. Sophomore Sara Wegner ran a gutsy 800m race (2:25.17), which placed her 4th overall. Lindsay Johnson ran a season best of 12:10.09 and placed second in her specialty, the 3000m steeplechase. McKenzie Fettig also represented the distance crew well by taking 4th in the 5k with a time of 20:12.86. In the field events, Sadie Koelz and Sarah Dahlberg both cleared 3.00m (9'10") in the pole vault, placing fourth and fifth, respectively. Senior Courtney Hlavka placed fourth in the javelin throw with a season best toss of 32.08m (105'3").
The Royals compete next on Saturday, May 5th at the Meet of the Unsaintly hosted by Hamline University.
