MINNEAPOLIS—Bethel University's women's tennis team was back in action Friday evening following multiple match postponements and cancellations due to weather. The Royals (12-3, 5-1 MIAC) dominated the Blazers (11-6, 2-3 MIAC) en route to a 9-0 victory with all their wins coming in straight sets.
BU swept doubles play as
Maggie Riermann and
Mattie Kidder won 8-2,
Mackenzie Novak and Jill
Weinzettel won 8-3, and
Sami Hindt and
Mattie Lubben held on for a tight 9-8 (8-6) victory.
Bethel continued their dominance as they entered single play: Riermann handled No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1, Novak won 6-0, 6-3 and Weinzettel took No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-0. No. 4 singles went to Kidder 6-0, 6-2, Hindt won 6-0, 6-4 and
Meghan Schuler finished off the day with a 6-4, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles.
The Royals next match is Saturday, April 12 at Ona Orth Complex against St. Catherine University. The home match is set to begin at 2 p.m. The Wildcats enter the contest 10-3 on the season and 3-3 in MIAC play.
