ST. PAUL - The Bethel University women's soccer team suffered their first defeat in 42 days and surrendered their first goal in the last four games as they fell 2-0 to St. Thomas in the de facto MIAC regular season championship game. The Tommies (16-2, 10-1 MIAC) scored once in each half and kept the Royals (13-3-1, 8-2-1 MIAC) off the scoreboard to take the regular season title. Bethel finishes in second place in the regular season, tying their best standing in program history, and will host a first round playoff game on Wednesday.
Bethel will await the highest remaining seed after the first round playoff games on Tuesday and welcome that team to Arden Hills for a 2 p.m. matchup on Wednesday.
