Crown Beats Bethel 2-0
ST. BONIFACIOUS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Crown College Saturday night. The Royals doubled the Storms shot output but Crown doubled the Royals in the all-important goals scored column. The loss drops the Royals to 0-1-1 after the opening weekend of play while Crown improved to 1-1-0.
The Storm scored both of their goals in the first half in the 17
th and 38
th minutes. Crown outshot Bethel 9-7 in the first period. The second half was a different story as the Royals outshot the Storm 15-2 but were just unable to get any shots into the back of the net. For the game Bethel held a 22-11 shots advantage and 12-6 in shots on goal. The Royals generated 12 corner kicks to just four for Crown.
Bethel will play their first home game on Wednesday, September 6
th at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex at 4 p.m. against the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The Yellowjackets will be the Royals third of five consecutive opponents from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) before entering MIAC play.
