Crown Beats Bethel 2-0


ST. BONIFACIOUS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Crown College Saturday night. The Royals doubled the Storms shot output but Crown doubled the Royals in the all-important goals scored column. The loss drops the Royals to 0-1-1 after the opening weekend of play while Crown improved to 1-1-0.
 
The Storm scored both of their goals in the first half in the 17th and 38th minutes. Crown outshot Bethel 9-7 in the first period. The second half was a different story as the Royals outshot the Storm 15-2 but were just unable to get any shots into the back of the net. For the game Bethel held a 22-11 shots advantage and 12-6 in shots on goal. The Royals generated 12 corner kicks to just four for Crown.
 
Bethel will play their first home game on Wednesday, September 6th at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex at 4 p.m. against the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The Yellowjackets will be the Royals third of five consecutive opponents from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) before entering MIAC play.
