ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — The Bethel women traveled to St. Joseph this morning to capture a 9-0 sweep against the Bennies of Saint Benedict. This win improves the Royals overall record to 14-4 and their conference record to 3-3. This record puts them firmly in fifth place in the MIAC.
While the Royals breezed through doubles, singles proved to be a tougher assignment. All three doubles pairs won their matches 8-2. The competition stiffened in singles. At No. 1 singles, junior
Mattie Kidder won in a third set tiebreaker 10-5. Tensions loosened briefly as
Sydney Parkinson handle business at No. 2 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0.
No. 3 singles was competitive as
Jill Weinzettel rallied after losing the first set to win in a third set tiebreaker 13-11. The Royals cruised through the rest of the matches with
Sami Hindt winning 6-0, 6-2 in No. 4 singles. Senior
Anna Browning won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 5 singles, while
Meghan Schuler won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
The Royals will look to continue with their success Sunday, April 9 when they take on Hamline University at Lifetime Fitness in Fridley at 5 p.m.
