LA CROSSE, Wis.—The Royals' 4x400-meter relay came to the Phil Esten Challenge looking for a national-qualifying mark and got exactly that, running the top time in Division III Friday night.

Patrick Klamm,
Evan Hatton and
Karl Olsen combined to run 3:13.41, over two seconds ahead of the next-fastest team on the national performance list.
Individually, Olsen tied the school record in the 200-meter dash, finishing second overall with a time of 21.72.
Hatton finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.91.
Isaac Erickson and
Shawn Monroe recorded personal best marks of 22.27 and 22.38, respectively, in the 200 meters.
